National Geographic recently interviewed several practitioners and apprentices who are members of either the Oley Freindschaft, the Blobarrick Freindschaft, or both of those guilds. The article's author also interviewed some practitioners from different regions and crafted an article titled, A new generation is bringing Pennsylvania Dutch folk magic back to life.
The practitioners of Braucherei in the Urglaawe context are very grateful for the fairness of the article, particularly when it comes to the fact that Braucherei can work in any spiritual system except for the lack of one. One self-taught practitioner, who has appropriated our practice and our culture in the past and now seems to have suddenly found ancestors who were practitioners, continues to ignore history and to purport that Braucherei is strictly a Christian practice. A sense and an understanding of history and culture are important for the mastery of the nuances of Braucherei and Hexerei.
